The last Friday of August witnessed the event that truly feels like the official start of the school year: the annual Surval Welcome Brunch. New and returning students together with their families joined with the rest of the Surval community in a lovely social occasion – enjoying brunch together in the school dining room and garden. Mrs Woodhouse gave a toast wishing the school yet another happy and successful year; the kitchen staff served a delicious selection of food and drink; and throughout the day, the girls took their parents for informal tours of the building and its beautiful grounds.
“It is so nice to be able to imagine what my daughter’s life will be like for the next year,” enthused the father of one of our Foundation Year students from Mexico, adding that he had been glad to have had the opportunity to chat with several teachers and members of boarding staff.
At the end of the brunch, the girls drifted off to finish unpacking or to spend a few final hours with their families before returning to school to prepare for the academic induction day on the Saturday.
