Beautiful hike up Rochers de Naye

Posted on: 5th October 2016 | Category: Boarding life, Sport

Thursday, an excellent weather forecast and an early lunch fortified our intrepid group of staff and girls for their afternoon of hiking in the Vaudois pre-Alps. The views on the drive up to our starting point were spectacular, if surpassed somewhat by the vistaawaiting us from the Col de Chaude; this was truly awe-inspiring, looking across Lake Geneva and the peaks beyond from a dizzying perspective.

The only route is up! Through the pine forest which marks the snow line, climbing the rocky path along the ridge of the Rhine-Rhone watershed to an alpine meadow, and onwards to the final ascent to Rochers de Naye….simply breath-taking.

Time to rest, reflect, take photos and enjoy a welcome snack, amidst the Marmots,  before tackling the descent, heading homeward to Surval, tired, but with a feeling of real achievement and wondering if this might be the last time for this special hike before the first snow arrives….
