Poetry Inspired by Robert Burns’ “Red, Red Rose” to celebrate Burns Day

Posted on: 25th January 2016 | Category: Boarding life

Grade 11 and Grade 12 have been creating Poetry Inspired by Robert Burns’ “Red, Red Rose” to celebrate Burns Day.

O my Luve’s like the warmth

On an ice cold Winter’s day:

O my Luve’s like a lullaby

When sleep is far away.

(Hala)

O my Luve’s like a big box of chocolates

O my Luve’s like the Spring in Switzerland –

The green that changes the world from grey.

At the end of a rainy day:

(Pooja)

O my Luve’s like a book

Filled with greatness and light:

O my Luve’s like the moon

That illuminates the dark night.

(Maria A)

O my Luve’s like a sailboat

O my Luve’s like a caged bird

Splashing through the sea:

That has been set free.

(Eugenia)

O my Luve’s like the ocean:

O my Luve’s like the dreams

That keep living as I’m asleep.

As big, as wide, as deep;

(Mariana)

O my Luve’s like the clear sky

O my Luve’s like the rays of sun

Peeking on a summer day.

After a rainy day:

(Ivana)

Which leads me on my way.

O my Luve’s like a bed

Where I prefer to stay:

O my Luve’s like a star

(Veronika)
