Water Rafting in the Swiss Alps

Posted on: 6th June 2018 | Category: Boarding life, Clubs and societies, Sport

After a relaxing morning and breakfast in Surval’s beautiful sunny garden, eight of our girls boarded the mini-bus and headed off to Chateau D'Oex. It was a wonderfully scenic drive up the Col des Mosses, full of cyclists on the roads, everyone clearly out and about making the most of the great weather.

Upon arrival, the girls donned wetsuits, life jackets and helmets and were driven along the river to complete the 15km course. The rafting proved an amazing experience for all involved; cutting through impressive stony canyons and bobbing along past mountains, now bright green after the melting snow.

One group of rafters was particularly adventurous, braving the cold waters and jokingly up-turning one another in. No sooner had they climbed back on board, they quickly dried off in the warm sunshine as they continued floating along.

Everyone was quiet on the drive back home, nicely tired from the fresh air and all the rowing they had done. It was a fabulous afternoon out on the rafts, surrounded by kayakers and passing so many cyclists on the roads - we really saw the sporty side of Switzerland today!
