Joanna Premand is a veteran educator, with almost fifteen years of teaching experience. She arrives at Surval from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, where she taught Upper School History for over a decade and also served as the Assistant Dean of Students. Joanna has a master’s degree in History from Oxford.
In Joanna’s classes, Surval students will learn to better appreciate the human condition and their own part in the unfolding story of our world. Students can expect to engage deeply with primary source readings and participate in intellectual debates.
Though she can never stay too far from her Appalachian-American roots, Joanna is also a Swiss citizen and enjoys exploring the Alps with her husband and daughter on the weekends.
