Location and Facilities

Surval Montreux is set in a stunning hillside location just above the town of Montreux-the centre of the Montreux Riviera. The school is housed in a former hotel, with views from every window that are the envy of all.

Summer Camp students share bedrooms with two or occassionaly three other girls. All have en suite shower rooms, almost all have balconies with a small table and chairs for relaxation, and all have a fridge.

The school has a fitness room, jacuzzi and sauna for girls to enjoy, after undertaking a variety of sports. A large games room provides a Wii, karaoke, table top football, billiards, table tennis and a large screen for DVDs.

The food is excellent and our three chefs, helped occasionally by the cookery classes, produce delicious three course meals, wth cold and hot options at lunch and supper.

The day begins with a large buffet breakfast, essential for girls before an active day. We ensure that all girls come down to every meal, so that we can be sure they are eating sensibly.

On Saturdays and Sundays, unless there is an excursion, girls have a late brunch, which allows a longer rest in bed, or the chance to use the fitness centre, to run or play tennis before breakfast.

Independence and Tidiness

After breakfast in the dining room girls return to ensure their rooms are tidy and their beds made so that the housekeeping staff can clean the rooms. They take their laundry and bedlinen to the laundry room on Sunday and collect it on Wednesday from our laundry staff.

For some of the girls this is the first time they have had to look after themselves, and they quickly develop habits of independence and tidiness.

Resident Staff

Our own resident staff live in during summer camp, assisted by some helpers who return each year. Night-time housemothers make regular tours of each floor at night and make sure girls are sleeping peacefully. They are always available to take care of girls who may feel unwell, or perhaps a little homesick, at night.

In the case of illness, girls are looked after in the first instance by resident staff, or where necessary taken to the school doctors, some ten minutes away. In the case of real emergency a number of hospitals are within a ten minute drive.
