Eastern European Evening

Posted on: 9th March 2016

Our cultural understanding grows daily here as girls tell us more and more about their particular customs and traditions. Every country has its own holidays and traditions and to learn about these means to understand the people, their art and culture better. This week we celebrated an Eastern European evening at school. Our students from Russia introduced their culture and holidays, presented national costumes and symbols, and explained the Spring Festival ‘Maslenitsa’, which this year will be celebrated from 7 - 13 of March. Olga taught us some Russian words, which we tried to reproduce! The celebration ended with a dinner, where we all tasted the Slavic specialties and in particular the delicious traditional pancakes made by the students. The evening was accompanied by traditional music. Join our Surval family as we celebrate this Festival and ‘like’ us on Facebook!
