From one lake to another… Surval’s Blausee visit

Posted on: 17th March 2017 | Category: Boarding life, Swiss adventures, Winter Camp

Living pretty much on the shores of Lake Geneva, it’s often quite easy to forget there are several other beautiful lakes in Switzerland.  On the first weekend of March, a group of Surval girls set off to explore Blausee and Interlaken, the former a stunning crystal clear lake within a national park and the latter a typical Swiss-German town set between two mountain lakes.

Upon arrival at Blausee, we had a short wander through the woodland before encountering the beautiful lake that Blausee is known for.  In total tranquility, the girls walked around, documenting the sheer beauty of the local environment and taking in both the snowy mountains above and the more springtime nature around them.  We then headed to Interlaken for a change of scenery and a spot of retail therapy…mainly in the form of chocolate. The town, located about a 45 minute drive away from Blausee, stands in between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. There the girls made the most of a different setting, walking around the shops and enjoying an afternoon in a different Swiss canton.

When it was time to head back to Surval, we opted for the scenic drive along the shores of Lake Thun, giving the girls the opportunity to take in another inspiring lakeside backdrop.  At Surval, we are keen to broaden our students’ knowledge of not just their academic subjects, but also the setting in which they live; our weekend activities are planned to inspire this and we wish that our students graduate with not only an experience of Surval, but also with fond memories and knowledge of Switzerland and the Swiss culture.
