Milan Trip 2017!

Posted on: 4th May 2017 | Category: Boarding life, Trips and excursions

Exploring the streets of Milan this past weekend allowed me to connect with the Italian culture we all love. From the breathtaking views of the Duomo, to the endless gelatos, it was very easy to submerge yourself in the city. Despite only staying here for two days, we found ourselves feeling less like mindless tourists, and more in tune with the place.

The first day, we explored the area around the Duomo in the morning, and after a mouthwatering lunch in a small bistro, (and the accompanying gelato, of course), we met our tour guide by the Duomo to go inside. The marble walls and columns inside the cathedral were something spectacular. My favorite part was being able to distinguish the differences in time periods inside the Duomo. The different artistic movements were very noticeable, and it was almost as though the further you moved from the entrance to the back, the more back in time you travelled. After a walk through parts of the city with the guide, and falling in love with the picturesque streets, we made our way to a pizza making course.! It was great learning how to make everything from scratch, like the dough and the tomato sauce, and the results were better than we expected! It was delicious by itself, but it tasted even better knowing we had made this. We sang the entire night, ate even more gelato, and we had an incredibly good time!

The second day, we were sad to be leaving that afternoon, but we still had the morning, and we had to make the most of it. We shopped most of the morning, because of course a trip to the capital of fashion is incomplete without some splurging, and we had lunch in a rooftop terrace next to the Duomo, and the view was spectacular. After a few more photos posing in the Duomo, we were ready to head to the train station, ready to go home.

On the train back, we were all extremely tired, but it was obvious we were content. Whether it was the food, the people, the language, the architecture, the shops, or the atmosphere, we all found something to fall in love with in Milan. This trip created memories that I may forget as I get older, but I will always remember how this city took my breath away countless times.
