Morocco, an unexpected, beautiful wonder….

A country that is not too far away, yet on a different continent was creating excitement in Surval, complete with the promise of a bit of sun before the Christmas Holidays!

A city tour of Marrakech gave us a valuable, general orientation and allowed for a wonderful walk through the Menara Gardens, showing the tranquility that exists within the city, and ended with a visit to the enchanting mosaic-style Bahia Palace before it was time for a well-deserved rest.

Next, a day trip up and over the Atlas mountains towards the Sahara desert was an incredible experience and  also showed off the extraordinary variety Morocco offers: from Marrakech's busy city centre to the luscious green gardens,  dramatic mountains where you can ski in the winter to the nearby desert landscape of the Sahara. We were also treated to  a visit to one of the largest film studios in Morocco, boasting film sets from Game of Thrones, Cleopatra and Gladiator, where many scenes were re-enacted by our girls!

The Grand Finale to our Marrakech experience was a Medina Souk Challenge! Initially hesitant, the girls split into three groups and set on their way to navigate the winding paths of the Medina souks, asking for directions and completing challenges along the way – with their journey being documented by photos along the way!

'I was really scared to enter the souks, but after 10 minutes I was having the best time and my fear had gone', said Fernanda from our Foundation Year.

All-in-all, this was another fabulous, successful international trip for Surval and the perfect way to round off an amazing Autumn Term.
