Prague Trip 2018

Posted on: 2nd March 2018 | Category: Boarding life, Trips and excursions

Last weekend, 18 girls from Surval enjoyed a few days exploring the beautiful historic city of Prague. After an early departure from Geneva airport, we checked into our hotel, wrapped up warm and set out for a walking tour of the Old Town. We learnt all about Prague and the fascinating history of the Czech Republic from our energetic Tour Guide, Karel. Our first day was cold, but it continued to get even colder, plunging down to -9 deg on our last day! Fortunately it was always sunny, and we had several indoor pursuits on the agenda too, including: the spooky Alchemists and Wizards museum, where the ‘dragon egg’ dropped in Prague hundreds of years ago is still stored; the Lego museum; the Grevin Wax museum (Prague's version of 'Madame Tussauds’), and Ta Fantastika. This last attraction was a performance of light, entitled 'Aspects of Alice' - based on Alice in Wonderland. The show was like a fascinating amalgamation of a circus and a play, including music, clowns, dance, magic and giants. Two Surval girls bravely took to the stage: Valeria mastered juggling in slow-motion and Raquel learnt to fly! Another popular visit was to the John Lennon Wall where colourful messages and art work created a fun photo opportunity.

We spent three nights in Hotel Boho in central Prague, 5 minutes' walk from the the Old Town Square and lots of shops.  The hotel provided us with lovely spacious rooms and a vast array of tasty breakfast options each morning. In fact, good food featured highly on our tour: We also enjoyed a traditional 4-course Czech meal, a Brazillian lunch with a never-ending supply of salad, meats and fruits from the grill brought to our table, and an evening dinner cruise along the river Vltava.  We took beautiful pictures of Prague by night as we glided beneath the Charles Bridge.

Although we were able to visit an impressive number of sights and attractions in Prague, there was also plenty of free time to chill out in cafés, go shopping and relax at our lovely hotel.
