Verbier Ski Weekend

Posted on: 22nd February 2016

This weekend 12 students headed up to Verbier for two days skiing and snowboarding.

4 students decided to swap their skis for a snowboard this weekend and had great success over the two days, going from having difficultly standing up to perfecting their turns. Intermediate snowboarders also took it to the next level and went to the snow park on Saturday. All 6 of the intermediates had a go at the jumps, landing on some and sliding down on their backside on others but all desperate to go again the next day. Beginner skiers worked on their parallel turns and at some point joined the snowboarders on a few of the pistes.

All students were delighted with the changes from Ski Thursdays as there were a lot more slopes for them to try; wider pistes, steeper ones, flat runs and of course the snow park! On Saturday we took for granted how quiet Verbier was, only for Sunday to be absolutely packed with skiers and snowboarders. On Saturday evening the group went to the local ice rink for an ice skating disco where they loved dancing, spinning, skating forwards and backwards and falling in time with the music.

On Sunday afternoon all groups took the cable car up to Mont-Fort at 3330, for some amazing views over all the mountains and surrounding villages for a few photo opportunities. Then we made our different ways down the mountain and to the school bus and back to Surval for some much needed sleep after an exhausting but wonderful weekend!
