Zumba Yoga split session at Surval

The icy conditions and thick snow covering the ground outside didn’t stop Surval from enjoying a busy first weekend of Winter Term. Saturday morning heralded an active morning and the opportunity for the girls to push themselves through an hour of yoga and Zumba style workout sessions.

Two groups rotated through each cycle. The Zumba style dance routine consisted of jump sequences, squats and cardio; everyone’s heart was pumping hard by the end. For many it was their first time trying such a workout, and everyone giggled as they attempted the different steps. Ms Sexton surpassed everyone, completing an impressive two full sessions.

The yoga session consisted of half an hour of intricate stretch and strength work for the whole body, perfectly complementing the up-beat cardio of the Zumba. Yoga gave the girls a chance ‘to be’. An empowering session which left girls Standing taller and feeling stronger. All in all, a stimulating hour of hard work and fun, leaving everyone geared up and ready to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
