Montreux Bouge: On y va!

Posted on: 8th May 2015 | Category: Swiss adventures

As our name would suggest, Surval is situated in the mountains overlooking the beautiful town of Montreux.  On Thursday 7th May, the Montreux leg of La Suisse Bouge took place.  This is a national event which sees people from all over Switzerland complete a 5 kilometre course in their local area.  It is designed not as a competitive race but rather to encourage people to take up exercise and as a means of bringing communities together.  The route of the Montreux Bouge was particularly charming, running from La Place du Marché along the lakeside to the neighbouring town of Clarens.  The entire school attended the event in high spirits, and Montreux had turned out in great numbers as well.  There were children on scooters, mothers pushing prams and elderly people walking their dogs.  The atmosphere was as energetic as the participants and it reminded us how lucky we are to be part of such a wonderful community in such an idyllic place. Our mathematician Freya Murray was first and received a public mention!
