Bringing Surval to Seoul: A Heartfelt Visit

21 October 2025

Our Principal, Mrs Woodhouse, recently had the pleasure of visiting South Korea, where she was warmly welcomed by Zena and her mother, Mrs Shin, in their home city of Seoul. The visit celebrated Zena’s unforgettable experience at Surval’s Winter Camp last year and provided an opportunity to connect with friends and families eager to learn more about life at Surval Montreux.

Below, we are delighted to share Mrs Woodhouse’s reflections on this special visit, along with Zena’s reflections, as recounted by Mrs Woodhouse.

I was honoured to attend a delightful event, kindly hosted by Zena and her mother in their home city of Seoul, South Korea. Their purpose was to introduce friends to Surval and to share Zena’s personal experience during the unforgettable month she spent at Surval’s Winter Camp last year.

Zena proudly wore her Surval uniform and spoke warmly about the friendships she formed with girls from around the world during her time as a Winter Camper. She loved Surval’s stunning location and setting, settling in quickly thanks to our small size and family-home-from-home atmosphere. She truly valued the opportunity to immerse herself in her English language classes and the progress she made through the tutorials and interactive style of teaching at Surval. Her understanding of English is impressive!

Zena was enchanted by Switzerland, exploring its beauty through the cultural excursions and Winter Wonderland activities included in her Winter Camp programme.

Skiing was another highlight. She bravely admitted she was a novice skier and a little nervous at first, but her face lit up as she described the thrills and spills on the Swiss slopes of the resorts she visited across her beautiful host country. She paid tribute to our instructors from the Swiss Ski School, whose guidance and encouragement helped her push herself and discover her true potential.

Zena is a proud Survalienne, and I could not be more proud of her! She hopes to return, possibly for a school year, and we would be delighted to welcome her back. Well done, Zena!
